It is now a legal requirement for all dogs to be microchipped. Failure to comply can result in a fine of 5000 euro
We strongly advise pet owners to have their dogs and cats microchipped. If a much loved pet goes missing it is always comforting to know that if it is presented at a vet clinic, or rescue centre, it can be traced back to its true owner very quickly.
Microchipping your pet involves placing a small microchip beneath your pet’s skin. This microchip contains a unique identification number which we record on our computer as part of your pet's file. The microchip number is also recorded on an official database which can be accessed by all veterinary practices. We will also give you a copy of your pets microchip details. Please contact your local O'Dwyer & Jones veterinary clinic to arrange an appointment.
Microchipping your pet is the most responsible action to take if you truly care about his whereabouts. Unlike tags and collars , microchips are extremely difficult to remove
